12/15/2006: Massachusetts Futsal Association announces two new Futsal programs catering to town and town travel teams and players.

The Massachusetts Futsal Association (MFA) announces that members of the United States Futsal Federation, (USFF), representing the national organization and the state association, along with representatives of Norfolk County Futsal League and the Greater Fall River Futsal League have reached an agreement to establish the Town Team Futsal program at the Norfolk County Futsal League, under the direction of Julius Sommerville and the Hilltopper Futsal program at the Greater Fall River Futsal League, both as a United States Futsal Federation sanctioned clubs.  These program are to be specifically designed and coordinated for existing and new town, and town travel teams that don';t already participat ein sanctioned futsal leagues.  They are designed to serve small sided indoor soccer enthusiasts from throughout the south coast region of Massachusetts and nearby Rhode Island and it fills a void where nothing previously has been offered to this category of teams.  

The USFF is the sole governing body and sanctioning authority for ALL legitimate Futsal league development and competitions within the United States.  For a program to legitimately call itself a Futsal League it must, in fact, have obtained sanctioning from the USFF in order to do so.  The Massachusetts Futsal Association is the state governing body overseeing the proper development of the sport of futsal within the state of Massachusetts. 

The only USFF sanctioned programs within the state of Massachusetts as of this date comprise:

     Chelsea Futsal Club
     Newton Futsal Club
     Revere Futsal Club
Catholic Youth Futsal League
Essex County Futsal League
Greater Fall River Futsal League
     Hilltopper Futsal
New England Futsal Academy
Norfolk County Futsal League
     Town Team Futsal

The Massachusetts Futsal Association is the local representative of the United States Futsal Federation (USFF), which under the banner of United States Soccer, is the national governing body for Futsal in the United States.

Futsal is the only international form of indoor soccer approved by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
